(WBIR, Knoxville) - Tuesday is National Hot Dog Day, and many are taking advantage by enjoying a hot dog from Dave's Dog House in Knoxville.

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council reports Americans buy more than 800 million packages of hot dogs a year.

At Dave's Dog House, they specialize in making all sorts of hot dog creations including iconic dogs like the Chicago and Coney, and also some more adventurous ones.

They have a location on Middlebrook Pike, but their roots go back 11 years to a cart on Market Square.

"Pretty much how we got our start was running hot dog stands, then we decided to open up a store, and it's been good for all of us really. People like hot dogs, that's why we opened it up. We felt there was an open market for it at the time. We just enjoy it, and we have a lot of fun making them," said David Forsyth, owner of Dave's Dog House.

Dave's Dog House also has some mobile carts at Lowe's stores across east Tennessee.
