Country singer Chris Young was moved out of the intensive care unit and into a regular room Thursday after emergency treatment for a leg infection in a Denver, Colo., area hospital.
Young was taken from the airport to the hospital by ambulance and admitted Tuesday night after becoming ill on the airplane.His mother, Becky Harris, is with the singer in the hospital and said Friday that doctors still don't know what caused the infection or what type of infection it was. However, her son is feeling better and is up walking around.
She believes he will able to leave the hospital in the next few days.
Chris Young is a Murfreesboro native and attended Oakland High School.Young's long-time guitar player Kevin Collier, who has been with the singer since the beginning of his career, was with Young when he got sick and has stayed with his friend at the hospital the entire time.
Young is currently the middle act on Brad Paisley's Beat This Summer Tour Presented By Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. Young will miss all shows this weekend, but is expected to return to touring Aug. 21 in Redding, Calif.
On Thursday night, Paisley tweeted: "We miss you tonight Chris Young. Get better quick, these people are about to revolt."
On Friday, Young posted on his Facebook page: The hardest part currently at the hospital? The constant machines beeping. ?#?gettingbetter
Young's current single "Aw Naw" is inside the Top 20 and climbing on Billboard's country singles charts. The song is the first release from his upcoming album "A.M." that will be in stores Sept. 17.
