An air quality alert will be in effect for Tuesday and Wednesday in most parts of East Tennessee.
Ozone levels are expected to reach an air quality index (AQI) level that's "unhealthy for sensitive groups."
Tuesday and Wednesday's alert covers Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park area.
The general public isn't expected to be affected. But those with lung diseases, older adults and children are at a greater risk from exposure to ozone.
In these alerts, members of "sensitive groups" should consider limiting or rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities until the air quality improves.
