KUB outages fall below 6,000

Fewer than 6,000 Knoxville Utility Board's customers are still without power Monday morning after a line of severe storms blew through East Tennessee.

Early Monday morning, KUB crews hit the road, restoring power to thousand of people without electricity since the storms came through.

Sunday night, the number of affected customers skyrocketed from 1,000 at about 7:50 p.m. to about 36,000 at about 10 p.m., according to KUB.

At one point Sunday night, LaFollette Utilities Board say more than 5,000 customers were without power. By Monday morning, restored power to all but 300 customers.

Appalachian Electric had about 300 customers without power at about midnight. As of 6:40 a.m., crews restored power to all by 40 customers.
