Almond Sues

These are named after my Pastor’s wife because they are modestly flavored and a little nutty. She refers to them as Nutty Sues

Preheat oven 350°


½ cup butter softened (1 stick)

½ cup vegetable shortening

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon almond extract

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups of chopped almonds (unsalted)

Powdered sugar for dusting tops


In a large mixing bowl cream butter, shortening, and sugar. Mix in vanilla, almond extract, and eggs. Stir in baking soda, flour, and almonds.

Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes till lightly browned. Cool and dust with powdered sugar.
