All lanes are back on open I-40 east at the Papermill Road exit after a crash had it blocked for hours.

According to KPD, the interstate was shut down between West Hills and Papermill for a serious injury crash.

Traffic was at a standstill and cars were backed up as far as Cedar Bluff Road.

TDOT said while all lanes are reopened, traffic remains backed up.

Drivers have been going the wrong way down the on-ramp to avoid the crash but KPD is urging drivers NOT to do this.
