From breweries and coffee shops, to manufacturing companies employing hundreds of Tennesseans, 2017 saw significant growth for businesses in the Volunteer State.
More Tennesseans held jobs in 2017 than any other year in the state's history. The unemployment rate in June was 3.6 percent. The state hadn't experienced an unemployment rate below 4.0 percent since 2001.
Manufacturing contributed to many gains in the job market.
In Knox County, an addition of a new facility and 500 jobs at molded plastics manufacturer Life Products largest manufacturing facility in Knox County.
Blount County's largest employer, the Denso Corporation, announced it will be investing a billion dollars in its Maryville operations and adding a thousand jobs over the next four year.
Also adding to Maryville's booming manufacturing sector was Newell Brands. A plant fire shut down operations at its MexPac plant in Mexico along the U.S. border, so the plant in Maryville added 900 jobs to pick up the slack.
