Emily Stroud

Emily Stroud joined the WBIR-TV news team in 2006

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — For a couple of decades I covered general assignment news but now I'm a reporter and fill-in anchor for Live at Five at Four.

My hometown is Homewood, Alabama. That's where I landed my first TV job in middle school, anchoring a weekly newscast called "Kidsworld 13."

I earned a bachelor of science in journalism (BSJ) from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University just outside Chicago.

Four years of cold weather sent me back south to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. Before moving to Knoxville in 2006, I reported and anchored news at local television stations in Birmingham, Little Rock, and Atlanta. I've also worked at CNN, CNN Headline News, and CNN Radio.

Off the job, I enjoy dancing at Jazzercise, reading library books, and watching college football.

My husband and I live in West Knoxville.
