KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Mary Klingler joined the WBIR family in July of 2021 as a reporter. She is thrilled to be a part of the evening team, helping you stay informed about what’s happening in your neck of the woods. Mary is passionate about helping others through impactful storytelling, so considers her role as a reporter to be a dream come true.

Mary moved to Knoxville from Augusta, Georgia, where she worked for WFXG FOX54 News as a morning breaking news anchor and nightside reporter. She had the opportunity to cover several important stories including the controversial Georgia Senate race with Kelly Loeffler and Raphael Warnock. She also covered historical moments at the Masters Tournament, including the 2021 honorary start with Lee Elder, the first Black golfer to play the Masters in 1975.

Although she comes from a place that doesn't see much snow, Mary has a passion for covering weather events because she takes pride in bringing viewers information that keeps them and their families safe.

Mary got her start in broadcast news at WBRC FOX6 News in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University with a double major in journalism and media studies. Mary grew up in Auburn, Alabama, with her parents, sister and two Shih Tzus.

Mary is excited to explore all the beauty that East Tennessee has to offer. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, collecting coins, and doing anything creative. If you ever have a story idea or just want to say hello, you can email Mary or message her on social media.
