Hello! My name is Matt Hagen and I’m a visual storyteller with a passion for breaking news and sports.
I joined WBIR in June 2021 after taking a one-year break from working in the news industry.
Prior to coming to WBIR, I worked at WATE from 2013 to 2020 and interned with FOX17 in Nashville in 2013.
I’m originally from Columbia, Tennessee, but moved to Clinton when I was three. I went to Clinton High School where I graduated in 2008. I ran track and cross-country where I specialized in long-distance running. I currently hold the 2-mile record at 11 minutes 26 seconds!
I graduated from Pellissippi State in 2011 with a General Associate of Arts, and I went on to graduate from Middle Tennessee State University in 2013 with a Bachelor's in Communications with an emphasis on electronic media communications.
I’ve loved sports my entire life, including NASCAR, which I was introduced to at a young age by my mom and dad. When I’m not working, I spend a lot of free time shooting videos at my alma mater and spending time with my niece, Ava.
