Hi! I’m Thuy Lan Nguyen—say it like “twee-lawn winn.”
I joined WBIR as the assistant news director in 2022 after bouncing around to all different parts of the country as a reporter and anchor.
I’m originally from the land of beer, cheese and the Green Bay Packers but I’ve called Arizona, California, Buffalo and Florida home. I’m a proud graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University…Go Sun Devils!
My goal is to use my experience in the field both in front of and behind the camera to make sure our newsroom at WBIR has some perspective from someone who has done it, ensuring safety and growth opportunities for our storytellers. Being a journalist is about being a helper and that’s my favorite part about this industry. We help elevate the voices of the communities we serve—from every walk of life.
When I’m not in the newsroom, you can find me trying to find a new hobby, probably making a list, on a hike or exploring new restaurants and fun experiences in East TN and beyond! I love to travel and I’m a huge baker and cook—I love making custom cakes for birthdays, baby showers and even weddings!
