Vinay joined the WBIR team as a multi-skilled journalist in the summer of 2021.

Vinay grew up in Loudoun County, Virginia, home of the Washington-Dulles International Airport. Though he considers himself a son of the Commonwealth, he fell in love with East Tennessee during his first visit.

Vinay has been a news junkie since his grandparents took him to President Bill Clinton's impeachment hearings when he was a few months old.

He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with degrees in both Aerospace Engineering and Journalism. Growing up, Vinay loved airplanes and rockets (he still does!) and thought engineering would be the way to go. In college, he joined CU's sports broadcasting club and enjoyed meeting new people everyday and telling their stories.

In 2019, Vinay worked as a news intern at WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., the station he grew up watching! There, his highlights include wearing a dog costume for the station's "Clear the Shelters" effort and the District's 4th of July celebration. Before that, Vinay was a Spacecraft Engineering Intern at the U.S. Naval Research Lab.

When Vinay isn't working, he loves watching sports (especially his Colorado Buffaloes), playing golf, basketball, hiking, cooking and making TikToks.
