Hello East Tennessee! My name is Yvonne Thomas, and I love chasing the news of the day. I joined the 10News team as a Multi-Skilled Journalist in June 2018.
I was born and raised down the road in Nashville, but my career started in Macon, GA. For two years, I reported “new, now, next” stories of the day as a morning reporter and fill-in anchor for our sister station 13WMAZ.
I am a proud graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. I’m also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
In college, I held several internships and fellowships throughout the south. I interned twice with WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville. I also interned with WBRC Fox 6 in Birmingham, Ala. Lastly, I completed diversity fellowships with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina.
When I’m not reporting, I’m probably shopping for the latest fashion trends or trying to cook one of my mom’s signature dishes.
I love meeting new people. So, if you see me out and about, don’t hesitate to say, “Hello!” I’m thrilled to call East Tennessee my new home.
