Upcoming CASAblanca gala raises money to train new volunteers

CASA is a non-profit, volunteer-based agency that advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system.

Maryville — The Tennessee Heartland chapter of CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, is hosting its third annual CASAblanca Gala on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Second Harvest Foodbank of East Tennessee in Maryville.

CASA is a non-profit, volunteer-based agency that advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children.

Proceeds from the gala go toward training volunteers.

Kesha Shipe is the executive director at CASA of the Tennessee Heartland and says the work their volunteers do can change the direction of a child's life for the better.
