'Hamilton' coming to Nashville in 2019-20

Specific dates are not yet available.

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center unveiled its 2018-19 HCA/TriStar Health Broadway at TPAC season on Tuesday evening, in a program that highlighted big hits — and one very big announcement.

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash hit sensation “Hamilton” will arrive at TPAC as part of its 2019-20 season.

In an exciting Nashville twist, Belmont University alumnus Chris Lee — who portrayed Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson in the original Chicago production of “Hamilton” and recently joined the U.S. tour — announced the news to the audience via video.

"We know all of Middle Tennessee has had its eyes on TPAC for some time, waiting for news on ‘Hamilton’s premiere,” said TPAC’s president and CEO Kathleen O’Brien. “And we’re so excited to share that it will be part of our 2019-20 Broadway season.”

Specific dates are not yet available, but O’Brien said the best way to guarantee tickets to “Hamilton” is to purchase a season subscription for the 2018-19 season. Season ticket holders who renew their subscriptions for the 2019-20 season will guarantee their seats for “Hamilton” before tickets become available to the general public.

Beyond the big “Hamilton” news, O’Brien also revealed an eight-show season for 2018-19 that features a number of recent and current Broadway titles, including “Anastasia,” “School of Rock” and the hilarious non-musical comedy “The Play That Goes Wrong.” There’s also a pair of classic revivals, including the acclaimed new production of “Miss Saigon” and winner of the 2017 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, “Hello, Dolly!”

“We’re so fortunate to have seven titles on our next Broadway season that are currently doing so well on Broadway in New York,” said O’Brien, who also announced the return of popular titles such as “The Phantom of the Opera” and “The Book of Mormon.” “That says a lot about how robust the Broadway pipeline is and how successful we’ve been in securing the newest, hottest shows."

Season and group tickets are now available. The cost of an eight-show season package for the 2018-19 HCA/TriStar Health Broadway at TPAC series starts at $308. Individual show tickets go on sale approximately 8-10 weeks prior to each performance. For more information, visit TPAC.org/Broadway, or call 615-782-6560 or 1-800-410-4216.
