SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME - Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.
Here's why I'm excited for this one:
Jon Watts is returning as director
He directed the last Spiderman film, and I thought it was fantastic
The underrated Jake Gyllenhaal will surely make for an interesting villain. He's playing a character named Mysterio.
July 19
THE LION KING - Disney live-action remakes aren't always great but Disney is doing the best they can to make sure that this one doesn't miss.
Put together an unbelievable cast: Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, James Earl Jones (reprising his role as Mufasa), and many more
Directed by Jon Favreau., who directed the live-action remake of The Jungle Book Many of you will be pleased to hear that the story remains the same, as do many of the songs
And I'm certainly excited to hear some of them performed by Beyoncé
She'll also record a new song that'll be included in the film
The visuals look pretty incredible; these look like real animals, but it's actually computer-generated photorealistic animation
I think we're in good hands. It'll probably be good, and it'll definitely be a hit. I'd say next to Avengers: Endgame, this'll be the biggest movie of the summer
July 26
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD - The newest film from Knoxville native Quentin Tarantino is about the golden age of Hollywood.
Features an all-star cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie..
Plot: Set in 1969, the movie follows the former star of a western TV series and his longtime stunt-double as they navigate a Hollywood that they don't recognize anymore. AND one of them has a very famous next door, Sharon Tate.
So, it appears as though this movie is also going to cover the Manson murders
I actually had to dig to find out some of that info, as the trailer for this movie tells us next to nothing.
The reason to see it is the man behind the camera, Quentin Tarantino.
He's one of the best directors alive, and literally every film he's ever made has been unique and exciting.
If the guy was making a movie about pinecones, I'd still give him my money. So, check out Once Upon a Time in Hollywood on July 26th.
August 2
FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW- A spinoff of the Fast & Furious films Featuring two supporting characters from those films (Played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham)
They were once enemies, but in this film, they're forced to work together to stop a cyber-genetically enhanced villain—played by Idris Elba.
This movie sounds totally ridiculous, and honestly, that's why I'm into it
The Fast & Furious movies have been pretty over-the-top for quite some time now, and in my opinion, it's when they don't take themselves seriously that they're the most enjoyable.
Villain that's not even real
Judging it by its trailer, this movie looks like it's really leaning into over-the-top action, and it's winking at us the whole time. There are a lot of over-the-top stunts and these are two of the most endearing characters from that franchise, both of whom know how to deliver a funny one-liner. It should be a really fun time at the movies.
