Shows to catch up on this weekend

With a lot of spring events being cancelled or postponed, you might find yourself with a little extra free time. Here are some shows to binge on in the coming days.

With the spread of illness, many upcoming events have been cancelled or postponed. With this extra free time, here are some shows to catch up on. 

Love is Blind

  • Description- Love is Blind is a reality dating series that follows 30 men and women as they hope to find love. Each person is assigned an isolated pod, and then they can talk to each other, but not see one another. The series follows the individuals’ journeys for three weeks — from speed dating to marriage and more. 1 season 
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- This show has heavy romantic themes, so it may not be appropriate for some young audiences

Peaky Blinders

  • Description- Peaky Blinders is a historical drama set in Birmingham, England that follows the crimes of the Shelby family during the aftermath of World War I. 5 seasons

Narcos

  • Description- Narcos is a crime drama that is based on the story of Pablo Escobar. The show is set and filmed in Colombia and features Escobar’s interactions with drug lords, the Drug Enforcement Administration and various opposers. 3 seasons

Grey's Anatomy

  • Description- You’ve probably heard of this one. Grey’s Anatomy is a medical drama that follows Meredith Grey and her friends as they transition from surgical residents to seasoned doctors. This show boasts 16 seasons, so there is plenty to catch up on if you’re new to the series. 16 seasons 
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- Some mature themes including romance, violence and graphic medical scenarios

The Bachelor

  • Description- This is probably another series you’ve heard of, but maybe never have gotten around to watching. The Bachelor is a reality show that focuses on romance and dating. One man dates a group of women until finding "the one." 24 seasons
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- There are strong sexual and romantic themes
  • Where you can watch it- ABC, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube

Parks and Rec

  • Description- Parks and Recreation is a comedy sitcom based in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. The show follows Leslie Knope and her friends as they run the parks and recreation department of their beloved town. 7 seasons 
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- Occasional strong language and romantic themes, but generally family-friendly.
  • Where you can watch it- Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, YouTube

Nailed It!

  • Description- Nailed It! is a baking competition with a twist—all of the competitors are amateurs with no prior professional baking experience. They’re all competing to win a $10,000 cash prize for the best cakes made. This show is a blast for the entire family. 3 seasons

Bob’s Burgers

  • Description- Bob’s Burgers is an animated comedy show following the Belcher family as they run their family business. This show is full of laughs, confidence and family love. 10 seasons
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- Some scenes feature crude humor, but generally okay for kids to watch

Queer Eye

  • Description- Queer Eye is a reboot of the original series, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. This show sends the Fab Five to communities around the globe where they are able to transform lives. Expect lots of smiles, tears and bittersweet moments.  5 seasons
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- Yes, this show is free from sensitive content.
  • Where you can watch it- Netflix

The Office

  • Description- This show is a fan fav, and everyone seems to know it. The Office is a classic comedy set at Dunder-Mifflin, a paper company in Pennsylvania. The show features the all too familiar office setting and some character you’re probably familiar with from your own office. 9 seasons
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- Yes, but there are some scenes with crude humor
  • Where you can watch it- Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime

Cheers

  • Description- Cheers is a classic, and even if you’ve already seen it, it’s always fun to re-watch. The show centers around Sam Malone, a retired baseball player, and his friends as they make Cheers, a cozy bar, their home away from home. Sometimes, you want to go where everybody knows your name. 11 seasons
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- Yes, it is generally family-friendly, despite being set in a bar

Law & Order SVU

  • Description- Law & Order: SVU is one of the longest-running drama shows on television. This show depicts police detectives in New York City as they deal with crimes of a sexual nature. In most cases, the victim survives and helps the detectives with the investigation of the case. 20 seasons
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- This show can be graphic at times, showing violence, sexual content and forensic scenarios
  • Where you can watch it- NBC, Hulu, YouTube

Survivor

  • Description- Survivor is a long-running reality show that focuses on survival skills. 20 competitors are cast away to an island and compete against each other to become the sole survivor. 40 seasons
  • Can I watch this with my kids?- Yes, it is generally family friendly
  • Where you can watch it- CBS, Hulu, YouTube, Amazon Prime
