CORRYTON, Tenn. — This weekend, a vintage gift shop will reopen in the same location on a family farm. It will have a new name: Becky's Hen House.

"She loved her community, she loved to cook, she loved to shop and she loved doing crafts," Bridget Calfee, her daughter-in-law, said.

That's why Becky Calfee opened The Hen House 5 years ago. It captured her interests in shopping and crafting and connecting with the community.

"She just liked people coming in and shopping and talking and let's sit down and visit for awhile. That was just her personality," Bridget said.

She said Becky was excited to retire to take on the Hen House full time.

"She was diagnosed with cancer in February and one of the things that she said was 'what's going to happen to my little hen house?'  And I said we will keep it going," she said.

After Becky died last April, the store closed for a few months. But Bridget kept her promise.

"We've now re-opened and we've renamed it to Becky's Hen House to honor her," she said. "This is our hen house as a family but she started it and she meant so much to us we wanted to keep her name and just honor her."

A grand opening of the shop with its new name is this Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Stop by for hotdogs, drinks, and Snow Cone Eddie.
