KINGSPORT, Tenn. — It is a bittersweet ending for this Kingsport firefighter and his family.

Sean Broyles is signing off after 30 years of service at the Kingsport Fire Department. He is closing off this chapter as one is beginning for his son, Gage.

"We pretty much knew at an early age he wanted to follow in dad's footsteps and be a firefighter. He was a typical kid in the fire trucks, he loved going to the fire station and hanging out seeing the trucks," said Sean.

The duo even recreated a photo taken in 2000, when Gage was a couple of months old. The now 20-year-old started working at the department just last year.

"It's really cool, not a lot of people get the opportunity to do this. And the fire service is really rooted in family and tradition. So, it's a great honor and I'm very humbled and thankful," said Gage.

Before Sean's retirement, the pair had the chance to work their first and last shift together.
