KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Watermelon and Blueberry Salad
1 watermelon, cubed
Blueberries
Fresh basil,
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water.
Put the melon and berries in a bowl.
In a small saucepan combine the water and sugar over medium-high heat and stir until sugar is dissolved and liquid is clear. Add a few sprigs of basil. Keep on heat for a few minutes but don't bring to a boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the liquid cool. When cool take the basil out and drizzle over the melon and berries. You can store the syrup for 2 weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
