Folks are encouraged to Share a Smile with area senior citizens

A local Senior Living Community hopes young people and others in the community will join them in their #ShareASmileProject.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Across the nation, those who live in or have family members who live in senior living communities are finding new ways to connect with each other since facilities aren't allowing visitation.

Shannondale, a senior living facility with campuses in Knoxville and Maryville, has launched a new campaign called "Share A Smile."

They are encouraging community members to put smiles on the faces of seniors through three acts of support: cards, videos or social posts.

They especially hope that children and teens, who are home from school at this time, will share a smile with their residents.

Here's how to take part:

Cards

Cards may be sent to:

Longer-length videos that are larger in file size can be shared via a DropBox or YouTube link. Videos or video links can be sent to marketing.dept@shannondaletn.org and will be shared with the seniors via a tablet.

Social

Share uplifting messages, videos and photos for residents by Tagging Shannondale (@shannondale_tn ) in your social media posts and by using the hashtag #ShareASmileProject. Those posts will be reshared by Shannondale's social media post and the staff will share them with residents.
