Knox County K-9 unit delivers birthday cards to Hembree family

Lucas Hembree got some furry visitors over the weekend just in time for his birthday and a card signed by the entire K-9 unit.

LOUISVILLE, Tenn. — On Saturday, Knox County Sheriff's Office made a special birthday delivery to Lucas Hembree, a Blount County boy diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare genetic condition. 

Lucas received his diagnosis at age three and now he is about to be a teenager on March 2.

Sheriff Tom Spangler and several officers accompanied by their furry K-9s Thor, Zoli and Natan made a special delivery to the Hembree home. 

They gave him a KCSO patch, challenge coin, pin, T-shirt and a card signed by the entire K-9 unit.

 

Back in December, the Hembree family lost a special member of their family: Juno the service dog
