KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Club LeConte sent a letter to members Friday announcing that the club's last day of business would be on Friday, Oct. 16, after it lost revenues due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Owners of the club will continue to seek alternative locations over the next few months, according to the letter. They said they hope to relocate it and will keep members posted. In the letter, owners also said that they will assist employees in finding new opportunities.

Members will also be able to transfer their membership to the Crescent Club in Memphis with non-resident membership status. It will give benefits including complimentary dining and golf fees.

To implement the change, the club will reduce dues billing for all members to $50.

Club LeConte is located at the First Tennessee Plaza Building in downtown Knoxville. It is described as "a hub for the corporate, political, cultural and academic community," according to its website. It has been in business for more than 40 years.

"This closure will not be easy for our valued employees and members," officials said in the letter to Club LeConte members.
