KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged several companies across East Tennessee. However, one company is responding to the pandemic by offering new e-bikes.
Lemond is a bicycle company with a facility in West Knoxville, and they unveiled two new bikes over social media on Tuesday. The e-bikes look to be designed for leisure riding, instead of road or mountain biking, and are made of carbon fiber to be lighter.
However, making the new e-bikes didn't come with its own set of issues. The company said that the pandemic caused several supply chain issues.
"Managing everyone's supply chain and the incredible demand currently in the bike industry has just so many new variables to work around," Geoff Lemond said, the company's Chief Strategy Officer. "But honestly, everything's been going pretty well."
Officials said that the new e-bikes will be up for sale starting sometime next week.
