Trial underway for two suspected in 2018 Knox County murder

Charles Hardy, Jr. and Kendra Hope Ryan are suspected in the death of Kerry Eugene Dickinson

A trial is underway in the 2018 murder of a Knox County man.

A grand jury indicted two people suspected of murder in September 2018, after authorities found a body in the bathroom of a Windsor Court apartment earlier that year.

Charles Hardy Jr. was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. The grand jury also indicted Kendra Hope Ryan for being an accessory after the fact.

KPD said it launched a homicide investigation when autopsy results showed foul play.

A call for a deceased male inside a Windsor Court Apartment on Cedar Lane came in around 2:37 p.m. on May 23, 2018 according to KPD.

The victim was later identified as 55-year-old Kerry Eugene Dickinson.

When officers arrived, they said they found the body in the bathroom of apartment 12, covered in a tarp.

According to warrants, Charles Hardy Jr. and Kendra Hope Ryan lived in the apartment. They admitted to officers that Dickinson had died the day before and that they did not call police or emergency medical services. Instead, Hardy said he moved the body from the living room floor to the bathroom.

Police initially arrested them for abuse of a corpse and booked them into the Roger D. WIlson Detention Center.
