DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — A Gatlinburg man is accused of impersonating a police officer, making at least two "traffic stops" in his Ford Mustang.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Coffey said his office got a report from a person who said they'd been pulled over Tuesday morning on Hwy. 25/70 by a man driving a red Mustang with a blue police light on the dash.

They issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for the car, and a short time later, Charles Lakins, 41, turned himself into the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office.

Jefferson County officers went to speak to him and learned that he also pulled over a second person. They are trying to locate that driver.

Coffey said Lakins will be charged with one count of criminal impersonation and one count of false imprisonment. Once they locate the second victim, other charges may be added.

The Mustang was recovered along with the blue light just outside New Tazewell.
