KPD investigating reported shooting after victim was uncooperative

Officers found the victim, 29-year-old Errol Sherrod, in a Value Inn parking lot with a non-life threatening gunshot wound in his right leg.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Around 4:29 a.m., Knoxville Police Department officers received a call of a male beating on a door at the Value Inn on E. Magnolia Avenue.  

The caller stated that the man was in the parking lot and had been shot, according to KPD.  

When officers arrived they found the victim, 29-year-old Errol Sherrod, in the parking lot with a non-life threatening gunshot wound in his right leg, according to KPD.  

Sherrod was extremely uncooperative with EMS and police and would not give any information about the incident, according to officials.

Officers were also unable to locate witnesses. Sherrod had been banned from the Value Inn property earlier in the day, according to KPD.
