A man suspected of trying to lure children into his home for sex more than a year ago has pleaded guilty.

Campbell County Criminal Court Judge E. Shayne Sexton sentenced 62-year-old Alonzo Adam Branson to serve 13.5 years in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

Police arrested Branson at his home on River Drive back in April 2015 after an investigation revealed he hoped to lure children into his home for sex. He told investigators he was interested in children between the ages of 9 and 12.

Officials charged Branson with two counts of trafficking for commercial sex act, two counts of solicitation of a minor and possession of drugs, likely morphine. He also pleaded guilty to eight counts of trafficking for a commercial sex act

In a press release shortly after he was arrested, Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins said, "The alleged deviant acts such as these we believe Mr. Branson perpetrated will not be tolerated, period. A place in society for these types of predators must be revoked immediately and we will do our part wholeheartedly."
