(WBIR - Hamblen County) The city of Morristown is giving the public easier access to crime data around the area.
The police department has launched a site to see where and when recent crimes occurred.
The crime data will be available on a 180 day dataset and be searchable by date, crime type, and address. There's also an option to sign up for e-mail notifications when crimes occur near a home or business.
The police department hopes the easier access to crime data will lead to proactive preventative measures that can reduce crime.
