A Sevierville mother faces charges she repeatedly hurt her infant son "due to her frustration with her child's constant crying," court records state.

Carissa D. Rayfield, who turned 22 on Monday, was being held in the Sevier County Jail. She's charged with aggravated child abuse.

A warrant signed Feb. 14 states Sevierville detectives were dispatched to East Tennessee Children's Hospital about possible child abuse.

Rayfield told investigators she'd hurt the 7-month-old boy that day while trying to pick him up, records show.

She told them she injured him two to three times a day because he keeps crying. The child had "multiple fractures on multiple extremities in various stages of healing."

"Rayfield stated this had been going on since before October 2019," the warrant states.
