Days after the search for missing 5-year-old Joe Clyde Daniels turned into a homicide investigation, the Dickson County Sheriff's Office announced efforts to find the boy's body are still ongoing.
During a news conference Wednesday evening, Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe told reporters that law enforcement was continuing to search the area where he was last seen around Garners Creek Road in Tennessee City, as well as in neighboring Hickman County.
Bledsoe said search dogs led officers toward Hickman County, though there have been no signs of Joe Clyde's remains.
Deputies with the Hickman County Sheriff's Office have been involved in the search since Monday.
"We can't risk missing something at this point," Bledsoe said.
Both of the boy's parents have been charged in connection with the case. Joseph Ray Daniels, 28, is charged with criminal homicide. Court documents released Monday indicate Daniels confessed to investigators that he beat the boy to death, but has not revealed where he disposed of the body.
Krystal Nicole Daniels, 27, has been charged with one count of aggravated child neglect or endangerment.
Both parents are being held at the Dickson County jail on $1 million bond.
