WALTERHILL, Tenn — A Tennessee principal and special education teacher are accused of dragging a 10-year-old boy through a school hallway by his feet, leaving him with head injuries.

News outlets report Walter Hill Elementary Principal Helen Campbell and teacher Bonnie Marlar were arrested Saturday on child abuse and endangerment charges. Rutherford County sheriff's records say the dragging was captured on surveillance video and Campbell has acknowledged helping Marlar pull the boy through the school. It's unclear who reported the abuse.

Marlar has worked with the district since 2014. Campbell has been with the district since 2001 and stepped into the principal role in 2013. Both have been suspended. It's unclear if they have lawyers. Court appearances are set for December.

Assistant Principal Laura Heath was named the school's interim president on Monday.
