Mooreland Heights Elementary students chat with astronauts aboard the ISS

Students at Mooreland Heights Elementary had a 10-minute window to ask questions while the ISS passed over North America.

Knox County students had the opportunity to talk to astronauts aboard the International Space Station Monday.

Students at Mooreland Heights Elementary had a 10-minute window to ask questions while the ISS passed over North America. They communicated through a ham radio.

"If a little boy or girl grew up in space would they be different from people on Earth? And the astronaut was pretty much saying yes because they would either be taller or something because it's different with the gravity," Fourth Grader Joanna Kidd said.

One 4th grade teacher called it the best day of teaching she's ever had.

"Just to get to see them talk to astronauts and realize where they could end up was just amazing," Fourth Grade Teacher Julia Farmer said.

Farmer hopes talking to the astronauts will show the students they can do anything if they work hard.
