KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — Two-time SEC Player of the Year Grant Williams announced Friday he will keep his name in the NBA Draft, forgoing his senior season at Tennessee.
This week he's in Chicago for the NBA combine. He said he he got the feedback that he wanted to hear from NBA personnel and decided it was the right time to take a shot at the draft.
"I feel confident in myself and my game," he said. "I'm excited to take the next step in my journey."
He made the announcement in an interview with Stadium, making sure to thank everyone who has supported him, including Big Orange Nation.
"To Vol fans, honestly I just want to thank you. You guys have been there for me, you've been amazing to me. It's been a great three years, a great process. I want to thank my teammates and my coaches as well as you all because without you I wouldn't be where I'm at today," he said.
He thanked God, his parents, and named many of his coaches by name, including Rick Barnes.
He ended the announcement with a "Go Vols."
