First COVID-19 related death reported in Blount County

As of Sunday, April 5, the county had 36 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Health reported the first COVID-19-related death for Blount County on Sunday, April 5.

The person was a COVID-19 patient at Blount Memorial Hospital who was hospitalized at the time of death, according to a hospital spokesperson. No identifying information about the patient is available based on federal patient privacy laws. 

The hospital said it extends its sympathies to the friends and family of this patient and thanks the teams of doctors, nurses and other clinicians who cared for this patient.

As of Sunday, April 5, the county had 36 confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to TDH.
