Tennessee now reporting COVID-19 deaths by county, will include new statistics through the week

TDH implemented the first of a few new statistics on April 1, and said they will begin reporting on projected recoveries later in the week.

The Tennessee Department of Health is adding new tracking statistics to its daily COVID-19 reporting, including a county-by-county breakdown of deaths from the coronavirus.

TDH implemented the first a few new statistics on April 1. As of Wednesday, 24 deaths out of 2,683 confirmed cases of the virus had been reported in Davidson, Greene, Hamilton, Knox, Marion, Rutherford, Shelby, Sumner, Trousdale, and Williamson counties, as well as one non-Tennessee resident.

In East Tennessee, Greene and Knox counties were reporting one death each. The Hamilton County and Chattanooga area reported 2 deaths.

Sumner County, which reported an outbreak of the virus at a Gallatin senior living facility last week, is reporting the most deaths in the state as of April 1. Seven people have died so far, including at least four people at the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing. More than 100 residents and staffers at the facility were hospitalized due to COVID-19 in the last week.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and state health officials announced Tuesday they will be implementing other new reporting statistics by the end of the week. The state said it also will be reporting projected recoveries and a county-by-county report on negative tests.
