The Alcoa Fire Department says six people died after a house fire on Wright Road Sunday morning. Officials say two were children.

ALCOA, Tenn. — UPDATE April 22, 9:33 p.m. | Alcoa police and fire say all six people in a house fire Sunday morning in Alcoa have died.

The Alcoa Fire Department says the house fire happened at 885 N. Wright Road Sunday morning around 5:30 a.m.

Officials say four adults and two children were living in this home. 10News is not reporting the names of the victims until those names have been confirmed by investigators.

Alcoa Fire Department's Fire Chief Roger Robinson said this is one of the worst fires he's seen in his career.

"In my 39 years of my career as a firefighter of the Alcoa Fire Department, 11 years as fire chief, this is the worst tragedy I've ever seen in the City of Alcoa Fire Department's history," Robinson said.

29 firefighters from Maryville and Alcoa, on and off-duty, helped work to put out the fire and attempt to rescue victims inside. They were able to rescue four victims from the home where police and AMR attempted CPR. However, none of those four victims were able to be resuscitated.

Officials say they're looking to determine a cause of the fire and a cause of death for all those who died in the house fire.

Police said they will have chaplains available to help officers and firefighters after this deadly house fire.
