Dine and donate across Anderson County on Mondays to support a good cause

Grab a meal with a purpose every 2nd Monday of the month.

On August 13, what you decide to grab for breakfast, lunch or dinner could help families in need.

Several local restaurants in Anderson County will be donating a portion of their sales Monday to a non-profit-- Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties, or ADFAC.

WBIR 10News Reporter Leslie Ackerson went to Anderson County on Monday morning to visit Hoskin's Rstaurant and speak with Annie Cacheiro, the executive director of ADFAC, to learn more about how you can help.

ADFAC has partnered with restaurants like Hoskin's Drug Store to create a program called Dine and Donate. Eat at one of the participating restaurants on the 2nd Monday of each month for the rest of the year, and a portion of the sales will go to support ADFAC's services.

ADFAC provides services for the most vulnerable in Anderson and surrounding Appalachian counties, such as people who may be elderly or disabled, to make sure they are well taken care of.

Some of the ways they work to improve resident's lives include "short-term assistance for basic human needs, affordable solutions for home rehabilitation and new construction, energy conservation,youth services, education, life coaching and/or referrals."

Participating restaurants inlcude: Dean's, Gallo Loco, Hoskins, Mediterranean Delight, Outback Steakhouse, Razzleberry's, Soup Kitchen and Subway locations in Clinton, West Oak Ridge, Oliver Springs and Rocky Top.

The group has also designed a child's coloring book that features places around the city.
