A dump truck driver was flown to UT Medical Center Friday after first responders had to pull them from their truck after it crashed into a tree.

At around 10:35 a.m., crews were called to Wolfenbarger Lane in North Knox County for a crash involving a dump truck and a tree, according to Deputy Chief John Whited with the Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad.

Whited said an extrication took about an hour and a half. Crews had to use the squad's heavy rescue equipment, 15 rescue squad personnel, and a heavy wrecker from Fountain City Wrecker to get the driver out.

It's unclear how the driver is doing at this time.
