Jogger finds car crashed into building, driver taken to hospital

Knoxville Police said a jogger reported she found a crashed car between buildings. When officers got there, they found the driver still trapped inside.

The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a car that crashed into a building.

A jogger called police just after 6:45 Saturday morning., saying she found the car in West Knoxville on Westwood Road. The Toyota Camry crashed into a building that has psychologist and nutritionist offices inside.

KPD said officers found 23-year-old Kevin Ruan unresponsive at the wheel. The Knoxville Fire Department had to extricate him.

Authorities took Ruan to UT Medical Center, where he is being treated for his injuries. KPD said they were possibly life-threatening.

Officers said preliminary investigation revealed the car was speeding on Sutherland Avenue when it went off the road and went airborne.

The car had cooled down by the time the jogger discovered it, so police said it is unknown how long the car had been there.

KPD said it will continue investigating the crash. We will give you more information as we get it.
