KPD investigating a murder after a man's body was found in South Knoxville

KPD said they believe the man was murdered within city limits before his body was dropped off in a wooded area in South Knoxville.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said it is now investigating a homicide after the Knox County Sheriff's Office said a man's body was found in a wooded area in South Knoxville on Sunday. 

KPD said the man was identified as 26-year-old Emanuel Turner of Knoxville. His body was found off Dick Ford Road on February 23.

A preliminary investigation revealed Turner was likely murdered within Knoxville city limits and dropped in a wooded area off Dick Ford Road, KPD said.

The body was taken to the Knox County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy. The investigation has been turned over to KPD's Violent Crimes Unit.
