Knoxville motorcycle community honors veteran fighting cancer

85-year old Conard Shultz has been restoring bikes for more than 60 years.

Knoxville's motorcycle community honored a local veteran fighting for his life.

Biker Rags on Kingston Pike celebrated "Conard Shultz" day on April 21st. Shultz is an 85-year-old veteran battling cancer, who is a well-known figure in East Tennessee's vintage motorcycle community.

Shultz enlisted in the Navy when he was 17 years old, and fought in the Korean war. For more than 60 years, Shultz he has customized and restored vintage British motorcycles.

Many local bike enthusiasts consider Shultz a mentor and a friend. They came out for a ride-in vintage motorcycle show in his honor.

"It felt good that people thought enough of me to do this," Shultz said. Several of his vintage bikes are on display now at Biker Rags.
