Knoxville's Baby+ Co. to close its doors in May

The letter, which was addressed to their "incredible mamas, dads + families", said they do not have the resources to keep the center open.

Knoxville's Baby+ Co. announced Tuesday it will close its doors next month.

The letter, which was addressed to their "incredible mamas, dads + families", said they do not have the resources to keep the center open.

The center in Knoxville, on Coleman Road, will remain open until Thursday, May 17. The center will officially close the next day, May 18.

"We know this news must come as a shock and we want you to know that we are committed to supporting every single one of you in this transition," the letter from Clinical Director Margaret Buxton said.

Buxton said she has already reached out to several local providers that are able to accept new clients to help connect Knoxville's Baby+Co. patients to a new provider.

The letter also explained how patients can obtain medical records.

The birth center opened in West Knoxville in January 2017.

There is still another Tennessee center in Nashville. There are three in North Carolina, in Cary, Charlotte and Winston-Salem. There is also a location in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

"To our incredible mamas, dads + families:

It is with great sadness that I share the news that on Friday, May 18 our Baby+Co. center in Knoxville will close. We have made every effort to sustain our business and continue our care, but we have to confront the reality that we do not have the resources to keep the center open.

We know this news must come as a shock and we want you to know that we are committed to supporting every single one of you in this transition. We will remain open until Thursday, May 17th and will support pediatric care in the center during the time. We will also continue to provide well child care while we work to help you transfer your care to another provider.

We will be calling every client in the coming days to answer any questions or concerns you have and to help you begin to create a transition plan.

For those of you who will need to transfer care, we have already reached out to several local providers that are able to accept new clients. We can help you understand your options and connect you with them or you are free to choose one on your own.

Attached to this note is a medical records release form with instructions for obtaining copies of your medical records. Completing this form will make it easier for your new provider to assume your care. You can also download your records from Maternity Neighborhood directly by following the attached instructions.

Whether you have been with us for a few short weeks, months or through the years, we are grateful to each and every one of you for your role in strengthening our community.

It was our honor to have you as patients.

With my sincerity and best regards,

Margaret Buxton

Clinical Director"
