The president of the United Way Worldwide stopped by East Tennessee on Thursday.
Brian Gallagher visited the United Way of Greater Knoxville for the first time in his 12-year tenure as president.
He says he's pleased with how the United Way of Greater Knoxville operates within the community, especially their emphasis on the involvement of young people through the Young Leaders Society.
"Communities that stay healthy pay attention to the coming generation. Not just in the United Way, but as a community generally. And this United Way is very inclusive in terms of young people, people of color, people throughout the region, business leaders, organized labor, I like how they go about that work," he said.
During his visit, Gallagher met with the United Way of Greater Knoxville's board of directors and key donors and volunteers.
