Leslie Ackerson wins Dancing with the Knoxville Stars, raises money for East TN Children's Hospital

Leslie Ackerson won the 10th Dancing with the Knoxville Stars event on Saturday. Presented in conjunction with Star 102.1, DWTKS is a take-off of the reality show Dancing with the Stars.

Knoxville — WBIR's Leslie Ackerson won the 10th Dancing with the Knoxville Stars event Saturday night!

She scored a perfect 30 out of 30 which was the highest score of the night! She won best performance.

The event is presented in conjunction with Star 102.1, DWTKS is a take-off of the reality show Dancing with the Stars.

Dr. Amit Patel won best fundraiser for the evening.

Each local celebrity was paired with a professional dance partner from Dance Tonight.

Leslie is currently a morning reporter and weekend anchor at WBIR Channel 10, but she does have a tiny bit of dance experience in her past.

She took classes as a toddler and was on her high school's dance team for 2 years. She's competitive, up for the challenge and excited to contribute to the hospital.

"I have grown up in Knoxville and seen how important children’s hospital is to our community. From myself, to family and friends I know so many people who have received care there, and I’m happy to raise money for a place that leaves such an impact in young lives," said Ackerson.

Leslie was able to help raise $6,794 for Children's Hospital.

In the past ten years, the Knoxville Stars event has been able to raise more than $1 million for medical equipment at Children's Hospital.
