Maryville plant looking to fill hundreds of jobs

A Maryville plant is looking to fill hundreds of jobs in its production lines.

The hiring push is part of seasonal hiring the company does at this time each year, and is also partly due to a fire earlier this week at the Newell Brands plant in Mexicali, which is the capital city of Baja California.

"As a result of the incident and to ensure product delivery stays on schedule, there will be some elevated levels of production in Maryville for the time being," Newell Brands spokesperson Michael Sinatra told 10News. He said they don't anticipate any disruption in supply.

Spokesperson Michael Sinatra said the company does a similar hiring push at this time every year, though, to prepare for the peak back to school season.

Interested applicants can apply by going to Lstaff.com and clicking on the 'Apply Now' button at the top of the homepage. As soon as an application is submitted, recruiters will reach out to follow-up.

The available positions cover a variety of jobs including forklift, production, packing, and assembly line, according to Rollins.

Newell Brands Official Statement on the fire in Mexicali:

“There has been a fire at our MexPac plant in Mexicali. We can confirm that our evacuation process worked well and there are no injuries to employees, first responders or anyone in the vicinity of the incident. In addition, we can confirm the fire was limited to our facility and did not impact the surrounding community. We don’t anticipate any disruption in supply for our peak back to school season. Our team is working closely with local authorities to actively manage the situation and investigate the source of the fire. We extend our sincere gratitude to the local fire department and volunteers who have assisted us during this incident. We will provide more details as they become available.”
