A massive Power T is catching the eye of drivers along I-40 as they come into Knoxville.
There's a billboard turned Power T near the Cedar Bluff exit. It's on the westbound side but it's facing drivers coming down I-40 east.
You really can't miss it because it's more than 1,300 square feet and MAY be the largest "T" ever created, according to the University of Tennessee Athletic Marketing Department.
The university is waiting to hear from Guinness World Records North America to see if they've executed something worthy of a record. They're currently investigating, according to Mary Allen, Tennessee Athletics' Director of Fan Experience and Marketing.
UT has billboards with Lamar year-round and this concept was one the university wanted to launch to simply brand the Big Orange image, according to a spokesperson at Lamar.
"The natural shape of a billboard provided us with a unique opportunity to showcase the Power T and incorporate one of this season’s themes #PoweredByTheT," Allen said.
The idea to create the board came from within UT, and it took Lamar a few weeks to manufacture, ship, and install the finished product.
On Friday, the university held a ticket giveaway and asked fans to meet them at the largest Power T they've ever seen.
