The MOH convention actually starts Wednesday, with several events planned in the area through the weekend.

Of the 78 living recipients of America's highest military honor, around 50 of them are expected to attend.

"The city will never be the same after these guys leave. These guys are our most revered, our greatest heroes. They're some of the greatest Americans. And to bring one to town is a very special event, but to bring 50 plus living medal of honor recipients, it's really gonna change this town forever," said Joe Thompson, Co-Chairman of the Medal of Honor Convention.

Some of the recipients are already in town, and will attend the Character Development Program Reception and Dinner Tuesday night at Neyland Stadium.

Your invitation to the Medal of Honor recipient welcome

On Wednesday, East Tennesseans can come out to welcome the Medal of Honor recipients to Knoxville. We're asking people to join us on the Clinch Avenue Bridge on Wednesday at 3:45 pm for the recipients' welcome. Those military men who range in age from their twenties to their nineties will be bused over the bridge at 4:45 pm, and we'd love to have a crowd there with signs and American flags waving to let them know how proud we are to host them in our city. Veterans are welcome to come in uniform.

10News will have full coverage of the events throughout the convention, broadcasting several of our newscasts on location at the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial near the Knoxville Convention Center.
