Need to know: Tennessee Valley Fair (and how to save money!)

Before you head to the Tennessee Valley Fair, make sure you know what you can bring and what you can't. Plus, you can save money on certain nights!!

Knoxville — Planning to go to the Tennessee Valley Fair?

The 10 days of fun at Knoxville's Chilhowee Park runs from September 7-16.

Here are a few important things you need to know before you go:

  • All bags must be clear, except for small clutches/purses no larger than 4.5 inches by 6 inches, diaper bags when accompanied by a minor child, and medically necessary bags. All bags are subject to search. Coolers and backpacks are not allowed. Full details here.
  • If you have electronic tickets, please print them before you head to the fair. Ticket issues? Call (865) 215-1482.
  • No weapons of any kind are permitted.
  • You may have to go through a metal detector to enter the fair.

Plan ahead on certain nights and you could save some money!

Friday, September 7: Opening Day Special

From 3 p.m. to 4:39 p.m., you can enter the fair for only $1.

Saturday, September 8: Tailgating Day

Wear your orange and white or Vol gear and get $1 off adult admission.

Monday, September 10: Student Day

Elementary, middle and high school students get in free from 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, September 11: Senior Citizens Day

Seniors 65 and over get free admission all day, plus special events and contests for seniors in the Pepsi Community Tent.

Wednesday, September 12: Tennessee Education Lottery Day

$3 off adult admission with any non-winning Tennessee Lottery ticket.

Thursday, September 13: Zero Hunger Zero Waste Food Drive

Bring two non-perishable items to any gate on Thursday, Sept. 13, for the Zero Hunger Zero Waste Food Drive for Second Harvest will receive $3 off adult admission and $1 off for child admission.

Saturday, September 15: Tailgating Day

Wear your orange and white or Vol gear and get $1 off adult admission.

Sunday, September 16: Hometown Heroes Day

Current and past military, police, firefighters, first responders, nurses, and teachers get free admission with proper identification
