A large sinkhole has closed a road near the Monroe/Loudon County line.
A viewer told 10News the sinkhole on Bat Creek Road has been there for a few days, but last night's rain made it larger and it now actually blocks the entire road.
Several homes are now inaccessible.
The Loudon County Sheriff'S Office posted photos and an update on their Facebook page on Wednesday. They said the sinkhole is actually in Monroe County, but it's affecting residents on both sides.
Crews are working to repair the damage today, but the road could be closed up to 24 hours. They hope to have at least one lane open for emergency traffic by the end of the day.
